iPHONE APP FOR MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS TO HAITI
by Educa Vision

February 10, 2010 - Coconut Creek, FL - Educa Vision Inc., a Florida-based publisher of multicultural educational materials, launched the first English-Haitian Creole Medical Dictionary iPhone application, and it is free.
Educa Vision developed the book English/Haitian Creole Medical Dictionary to assist health-care providers with Haitian patients who do not speak English. It can be used by physicians, nurses, paramedics, social workers, nutritionists, dietitians and patients in the context of a hospital, clinic, medical office and emergency situations. The dictionary was made into an iPhone app to assist volunteers in light of January 12th earthquake in Haiti.
The publisher has been providing dictionaries and glossaries to different areas of the country, but developing the Medical Dictionary as an iPhone app makes it much more practical in the field. The free app is a functional support as well as a contribution to the relief efforts.
“We are fascinated by how the world is responding to the situation in Haiti, and the generosity of people. If there was any way we could contribute, it was to provide a means to simplify communication between medical professionals and patients, and we are more than happy to do it,” says Fequiere Vilsaint, President of Educa Vision.
The application is available at the iTunes App Store free of charge. It is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch, and requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
