This story book is developed for third grade level of reading. Two Haitian children take care of the chores and their grandmother while their parents are gone overnight to market. The children learn what it is like to be more grown up. They also learn to be grateful for the kindness of neighbors.

 

The book includes reflection questions that encourage critical thinking. A proverb and bible verse help reinforce values of being good neighbors and to honor your father and mother.

For use in schools, a teacher’s guide is included.
