A Reading Foundations Program
Phonics Made Easy (PME) is a comprehensive, research-based literacy program designed to accelerate reading growth in K–2 students. With a focus on systematic and explicit phonics instruction, PME helps build a strong foundation in reading, setting young learners on the path to literacy success. Over the past four decades, our understanding of the reading process has grown significantly. Ongoing research continues to shape how we best support students in becoming proficient readers. The Phonics Made Easy program is built upon these findings, incorporating proven strategies to support early literacy development. PME targets key areas of reading instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Through structured, multisensory instruction, students develop essential decoding skills and gain confidence as readers.
The program features:

• Integrated multisensory instruction that engages auditory, visual, and kinesthetic modalities to reinforce phonics concepts such as letter recognition, sound-symbol correspondence, spelling patterns, and sight words.
• A structured literacy approach that simultaneously teaches phonics, spelling, and handwriting, supported by clearly defined instructional routines.
• Systematic phonological awareness development, with step-by-step instruction in recognizing and manipulating syllables, phonemes, onsets, and rimes.
• Engaging multisensory tools such as alphabet and sound manipulation activities, which promote retention and motivation.
• Spelling Cards that provide both visual and tactile support to reinforce sound-symbol relationships.
• A dry-erase writing board that supports a hands-on, sequential approach to writing and decoding, progressing from simple to more complex skills.
• Activities that encourage students to see, hear, say, and write sound patterns, building automaticity and reinforcing connections between sounds and word meaning.

• Interactive grapheme cards (upper and lowercase): Useful for demonstrating blends, digraphs, and vowel patterns, and for identifying consonants, vowels, and phoneme combinations. Includes blank cards for customization.
• Interactive blend and trigraph cards
• Double-sided picture cards: Visually illustrate the different sounds of the English language to support phonemic awareness.
• Dry-erase writing pad: Encourages practice in writing and decoding, promoting hands-on, repetitive learning that builds reading fluency.
